About So-Hum Foundation

The So-Hum Foundation is a 501 C-3 charitable foundation which funds domestic and international charitable work. Currently So-Hum supports approximately 90 charitable organizations, two-thirds of which are within the USA and one-third of which are international. About two-thirds of So-Hum’s annual grants assist international work, providing funding to eighteen charities in India, four in Tibet, two in the Philippines, three in Africa, one in Nepal and several others that provide relief and development assistance to various countries around the world.

So-Hum’s charitable grants to organizations within the US provide funding for a wide range of educational, environmental, health and cultural work. The majority of these grants are given to relatively small organizations in Oregon and California.

So-Hum’s international charities serve some of the most needy members of society: the very poor, women and children, physically and mentally handicapped adults and children, as well as under-served rural communities. Work supported includes orphanages and children’s homes, homes for the destitute and disabled, schools, health clinics and medical camps, eyesight restoration, micro-lending, environmental work, community development and other social services. So-Hum typically “partners” with charitable organizations to fund a portion of their annual operating expense, and is especially interested in self-reliant and self-sustaining programs, ecologically sound practices and high value for money donated.

Almost all of the international charities supported by So-Hum were initially recommended to us by people we know and have been visited by Jerry Jones (So-Hum founder and president) or by friends. Visits to our international charities are periodic and ongoing, and give us an opportunity to determine the appropriate amount of yearly financial support to provide, based on each organization’s financial statements and future plans. Our visits are also very inspiring and continue to inform and hone our vision for future giving.
